LCD, PLASMA or LED LCD

Hey Friends,

Check out which one is right for you.
LCD, PLASMA or the much hyped LEDs.

Firstly, check out the display trend to find out are we using the right terminology.

First display device that came in existence was that all know about Color TV (CTV) which worked on CRT (Cathode Ray Tube).

Then came the big widescreen PLASMA TV for cinemascopic experience, which worked on the principle of gas (typically two gases: Neon & Xenon).

Then LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) TV which available in small and big size, and again gives the widescreen experience, and works on the principle of Backlight (typically CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp).

And now the much in advertisement the LEDs TV, actually it's not a new technology, but is just a revamp of technology used in LCD, and hence are called as LED LCD TV and not just LED TV.

LED TV gives a perception as if they are something new, but in actual instead of CCFL as a backlight, the LEDs are used.

LED LCD TV are too of two types, (i) Direct Type, & (ii) Edge Type

So, you know the major fight is still between LCD and PLASMA.

Things to evaluate before making a purchase
1. The room size where the screen is to be placed.
A big screen in a small room can put strain on eyes and can hamper the viewing experience.
And on the other hand, small screen in a big room can only solve the purpose of Screen and not the viewing experience.

PLEASE NOTE:
LCD TV range is available in 19", 22", 26", 32", 37", 40", 42", 46", 47" and so on.
PLASMA TV range is available in 32" (very few brands), 42", 50", 60" and so on.

2. If you like watching more of Bollywood Movies, Drama serials or Gaming, then LCD is a better option, or else if you are more towards action stuff or sports, then PLASMA is a better deal for you.

3. For brighter areas LCDs should be preferred over PLASMA.

4. Don't very about the life span as both are actually better, giving more than 60,000 hrs to half brightness, that means if you watch TV for 8hrs a day, then more than 20 years.

Hope this article would help you decide your new Wide Screen TV.
